A Day in the Life:

  • Morning Set-up: Begin your day by reviewing your schedule and preparing the therapy space with the necessary equipment and materials for the day’s sessions.

  • Student Sessions:  Conduct one-on-one and group therapy sessions, focusing on improving mobility, strength, and coordination for students with various physical needs.

  • Collaborative Planning: Work closely with occupational therapists, teachers, and parents to integrate physical health goals into each student’s educational plans and daily activities.

  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and document students’ progress, adjusting therapeutic plans and goals as necessary to meet individual needs and maximize functional independence.

  • Team Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and strategize on comprehensive support plans for students, ensuring a holistic approach to student health and education.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct Physical Therapy: Provide hands-on physical therapy to improve student mobility and prevent injury, crafting individualized treatment plans based on thorough assessments.

  • Development of Therapeutic Programs: Design and implement innovative physical therapy programs that cater to the specific needs of the educational setting, promoting not only physical health but also integration into the school environment.

  • Consultation and Training: Offer guidance and training to school staff and families on how to support the physical development of students, ensuring consistency in therapeutic practices across all environments.

  • Interdisciplinary Cooperation: Collaborate with a range of professionals within the school to foster an inclusive environment that accommodates students’ physical needs.

  • Professional Growth: Engage in continuous professional development to keep abreast of the latest techniques and technologies in physical therapy.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.

  • Licensure: Must be a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of practice.

  • Experience: Prior experience in pediatric or school-based physical therapy is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Strong clinical skills in physical assessment and therapy, excellent interpersonal abilities to work effectively with students and adults.

  • Professionalism: A strong commitment to ethical practice, teamwork, and ongoing professional development.
