Support Comprehensive Physical Therapy Programs to Enhance Student Mobility

Join PSI as a Physical Therapy Assistant and play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of physical therapy services under the direction of licensed Physical Therapists. This position allows you to actively participate in the rehabilitation and treatment processes, helping students improve their mobility and overall physical health in a supportive educational environment.

A Day in the Life:

  • Session Preparation: Begin your day by setting up therapy equipment and preparing the therapy area for student sessions.

  • Therapy Assistant: Assist Physical Therapists in conducting therapy sessions, helping students perform exercises and activities designed to aid their physical recovery and development.

  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor students during therapy sessions and report their responses to the supervising Physical Therapist, contributing to the adjustment of therapeutic plans.

  • Equipment Management: Manage and maintain physical therapy equipment, ensuring all tools are in optimal condition for therapy sessions.

  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of therapy sessions, documenting students’ progress and challenges under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct Support in Therapy Sessions: Provide hands-on assistance during physical therapy sessions, ensuring that students receive appropriate care and support as prescribed by the Physical Therapist.

  • Instruction and Supervision: Under the supervision of Physical Therapists, instruct students in exercises and activities included in their therapy programs, focusing on proper techniques to prevent injuries.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the entire therapy team, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other educational professionals, to deliver a cohesive and integrated approach to student health and wellness.

  • Therapy Plan Implementation: Help implement specific components of the therapeutic plan developed by the Physical Therapist, adapting activities to meet the needs of each student.

  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and education to maintain competency and stay updated with the latest practices in physical therapy assistance.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Associate’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.

  • Certification: Licensure or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of practice.

  • Experience: Experience working in pediatric, school-based, or related healthcare settings is preferred.

  • Skills: Strong understanding of physical therapy modalities and techniques, excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, and the ability to follow detailed instructions.

  • Professionalism: Commitment to ethical standards and continuing education in physical therapy practices.
