Lead Special Education Programs and Advocate for Student Success

Join PSI as a Special Education Coordinator and play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the delivery of special education services across the school. This position involves managing special education programs, coordinating with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure that all students with disabilities receive the education and support they need to thrive.

A Day in the Life:

  • Program Management: Start your day by reviewing the special education programs currently in place, assessing their effectiveness, and planning for improvements or new initiatives.

  • Staff Collaboration: Meet with special education teachers and support staff to discuss individual student progress, program updates, and professional development needs.

  • IEP Coordination: Oversee the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Parent Meetings: Conduct meetings with parents to discuss their child’s progress, address concerns, and collaborate on educational plans.

  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure that the school’s special education practices comply with all regulatory requirements, and prepare reports for school administration and district officials.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Program Oversight: Manage and oversee the school’s special education programs, ensuring they meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

  • Staff Supervision and Development: Lead, supervise, and provide ongoing professional development for special education staff to enhance their instructional skills and effectiveness.

  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate the allocation of resources for special education services, ensuring optimal use of materials and staff to benefit student learning.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with various stakeholders including school staff, parents, and district officials to foster collaboration and support for special education initiatives.

  • Policy Implementation: Implement and monitor policies related to special education to ensure compliance with all educational standards and legal requirements.

 

Requirements:

  • Education Background: Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.

  • Certification: Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in special education or educational administration.

  • Experience: Extensive experience in special education or a related educational field, with a proven track record in program management and staff leadership.

  • Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and a deep understanding of special education law and best practices.

  • Professionalism: A commitment to ethical educational practices and a dedication to advocating for students with disabilities.
