A Day in the Life:

  • Individualized Planning: Start your day by reviewing and updating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each of your students, planning tailored educational strategies that address their specific learning needs.

  • Teaching and Instruction: Conduct specialized instruction sessions that engage and support your students in mastering curriculum goals at their pace and according to their learning styles.

  • Collaboration with Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers to integrate students smoothly into classroom activities, providing modifications and accommodations as needed.

  • Progress Monitoring: Assess student progress through tailored evaluation methods, adapting teaching methods and goals to optimize learning outcomes.

  • Family Engagement: Communicate regularly with families to provide updates on their children’s progress and discuss strategies to support learning at home.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Specialized Instruction: Deliver effective and engaging instruction that meets the diverse needs of students with disabilities, fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

  • IEP Development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and policies and that educational goals are being met.

  • Behavioral Support: Implement and manage appropriate behavioral interventions, helping to create a positive learning atmosphere.

  • Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration: Collaborate with a team of educators, therapists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive support to students.

  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about the latest trends and techniques in special education.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.

  • Certification: Valid teaching certification in Special Education.

  • Experience: Previous experience working as an Intervention Specialist or in a similar role, with a demonstrated ability to manage diverse and complex student needs.

  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and instructional skills, with a deep understanding of adaptive teaching practices.

  • Professionalism: Commitment to ethical educational practices and a passion for advancing the educational success of students with special needs.
