A Day in the Life:

  • Supervised Practice: Start your day under the guidance of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, preparing for and conducting therapy sessions with students who have various communication challenges.

  • Skill Development: Engage in hands-on therapy sessions, applying learned techniques and strategies to improve students’ speech and language abilities.

  • Collaborative Learning: Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and strategize on comprehensive support plans for students, gaining insights from various educational and health professionals.

  • Documentation and Feedback: Document therapy outcomes and receive constructive feedback from your supervisor to refine your skills and approaches.

  • Professional Development: End your day by participating in training sessions or workshops that enhance your understanding of speech-language pathology practices and current research.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct Therapy: Provide speech and language therapy under supervision, adapting interventions to meet the individual needs of students.

  • Assessment Assistance: Assist in evaluating students’ communication abilities and contribute to developing effective treatment plans.

  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on students’ progress, learning to make data-driven adjustments to therapy.

  • Professional Ethics and Growth: Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and actively engage in opportunities for professional growth and certification.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Advanced degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, or a related field.

  • Certification Eligibility: Current licensure or certification as a School Psychologist in the state of practice.

  • Skills: Proven track record in psychological assessment and intervention within a school setting.

  • Professional Attributes: Highly motivated, organized, and committed to developing as a clinical practitioner.

  • Clinical Competence: Commitment to achieving the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) upon completion of the fellowship.
