This role offers the opportunity to directly support classroom teachers and special education staff, helping to implement educational programs and activities that enhance student learning and engagement.

A Day in the Life:

  • Classroom Preparation: Start your day by preparing the classroom with necessary materials and setting up equipment needed for the day’s lessons and activities.

  • Supportive Instruction: Assist in delivering educational content under the direction of the classroom teacher, providing individual attention to students who require additional support or accommodations.

  • Learning Reinforcement: Work with small groups or one-on-one with students to reinforce learning objectives, utilizing tools and strategies tailored to their specific needs.

  • Behavior Management: Help manage classroom behavior by implementing strategies designed to foster a positive and productive learning environment.

  • Resource Coordination: Organize and manage classroom resources, ensuring that materials are available and accessible to all students.

  • Progress Documentation: Assist in monitoring and documenting student progress, providing feedback to teachers and helping to adjust instructional strategies as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Support: Provide support to teachers in implementing curriculum and educational activities, adapting methods as necessary to meet the needs of students.

  • Student Engagement: Actively engage with students to support their learning and social development, encouraging a positive educational experience.

  • Classroom Management: Assist in managing the classroom environment, ensuring it remains safe, organized, and conducive to learning.

  • Educational Materials Preparation: Prepare and organize educational materials and resources required for daily activities and special projects.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other educational staff to enhance support for students, participating in meetings and training sessions as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: High school diploma required; associate’s degree or higher in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Excellent organizational skills, effective communication abilities, and a compassionate approach to student interaction.

  • Professionalism: A strong commitment to supporting inclusive educational practices and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom dynamics and student needs.
