Effective January 1, 2015, licensed speech-language pathologists and audiologists in Ohio must complete 20 clock hours of continuing education with at least two clock hours related to ethics. Cutting is the most common form of self-injury. This phenomenon has caught many school personnel, parents and community personnel by surprise. Several models have been identified to explain this behavior. A history of trauma is usually considered the most typical common denominator. This workshop will outline the many factors involved in this complex behavior and provide response guidelines for schools and strategies to help students reduce their self-injurious behavior.
