Join PSI as a Social Worker to provide critical support and intervention for students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. In this key role, you will collaborate with educational staff and families to create a supportive environment that promotes student resilience and academic success.

A Day in the Life:

  • Morning Briefing: Start your day by reviewing referrals from teachers or counselors, and prepare for your student meetings, focusing on those who require immediate attention.

  • Individual and Group Sessions: Conduct counseling sessions to address personal challenges or group sessions to foster social skills and peer interactions.

  • Collaboration with Educational Teams: Meet with school personnel to discuss and coordinate support strategies for individual students or broader student populations.

  • Community Resource Coordination: Liaise with external agencies to arrange additional support services or resources for students and their families.

  • Documentation and Evaluation: End your day by updating student records, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and planning future sessions or follow-up activities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide social, emotional, and behavioral support to students through counseling, crisis intervention, and targeted social skills training.

  • Program Development: Develop and implement school-wide programs that address key issues affecting student well-being, such as bullying prevention, mental health awareness, and family engagement.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other school professionals, such as teachers, school psychologists, and counselors, to integrate support services and promote a holistic approach to student development.

  • Community Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with community resources and organizations to support students’ needs outside of the school environment.

  • Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest research and developments in school social work and related fields to continually enhance your practice and effectiveness.

 

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.

  • Licensure: Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), as required by the state.

  • Experience: Proven experience in social work, preferably within a school setting or with children and adolescents.

  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse student populations, families, and professionals.

  • Ethics: High ethical standards with a strong commitment to confidentiality and student privacy.
